Development and Engineering Study of an Automotive Center Console Handle.
Rel. Andrea Tonoli. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Automotive Engineering (Ingegneria Dell'Autoveicolo), 2026
Abstract
This thesis illustrates the concept development and engineering process of an interior component for a high performance luxury vehicle. Specifically, the focus is on the design of a handle located on the cockpit's center tunnel, which serves as a grab handle for the passenger during high speed driving conditions on the road or track. The design process was developed following a tipical corporate approach, starting with a benchmarking phase that allows to identify solutions present on the luxury car market. Following this first phase, a Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) was conducted to identify potential risks associated with this concept and to define the design specifications.
Following this type of analysis, it is possible to developa range of design proposals for the component to be integrated into the existing center tunnel structure
