Abstract
This thesis investigates the study of physical modelling and feasibility in implementing a closed-loop control on an Active Bearing Electromagnetic Actuator. The context is one of theoretical Active Noise Cancellation control strategy on a flexible mechanical system, with typical self-generated modal disturbances. These systems find application in active vibration control in active bearings or may be integrated with conventional bearing systems. The feasibility study entails to cover the non-idealities in actuator characteristics, i.e. unlimited bandwidth, current dynamics and force saturation. The main objective of this work is to survey actuator models viable for such applications, study their non-idealities and aim to control them with a suitable scheduling of the gains of a Linear Parameter Varying plant approach.
First, non-linear equations of an electromagnetic actuator model are derived and set in a Simulink environment
