Abstract
This thesis is about the structural optimization and component development of a 17-inch wheel racing motorcycle, developed during a six-month internship. The project aimed to solve excessive chassis stiffness reported during track testing and ensure platform compatibility with a new alternative engine layout. Finite Element Analysis (FEA) was introduced into the development workflow to guide targeted weight and stiffness reductions, through linear static and modal analyses. A stiffness reduction exceeding 20% across all loadcases and a 19.5% weight savings were obtained. For the alternative engine variant, the proposed updated chassis decreased stiffness by over 3% using optimized spar cutouts and plates machining.
