Abstract
This thesis has been made in collaboration with ASTRO, a start-up originating from an academic research project carried at Politecnico di Torino, which specializes in Tethered Satellite Systems (TSS) and their application to enhance Earth Observation (EO). The scope of this thesis is to study the advantages that this type of configuration can bring to an Along-Track Interferometry Synthetic Aperture Radar application. Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) is a night-and-day, all-wether imaging technique that works by transmitting a microwave pulse toward Earth's surface and analyzing the backscattered signals to create an image whose resolution does not depend on the altitude of the observation but solely on the system's design.
Interferometry is a technique that can be employed to extrapolate additional information from the observations when two or more images of the same area are created
