Abstract
This thesis presents an open-source, reproducible testbench for evaluating Advanced Driver Assistance Systems in OpenSCENARIO simulation and uses it to characterise the reference ALKS_R157SM controller shipped with esmini v2.60.0. The testbench combines a programmatically generated OpenDRIVE road network, a portfolio of more than sixty scenario files spanning eleven scenario families plus a twelve-scenario environmental-coupling investigation, a Python analysis pipeline, and a UDP external-control interface bridging esmini with SUMO. Thirty-nine controlled runs were executed across four AEB scenario types — stationary lead, cut in, pedestrian crossing, and rear-end chain — under three controller configurations: the Regulation submodel with cruise enabled, ReferenceDriver with cruise enabled, and ReferenceDriver with cruise disabled.
Every controller parameter cited in the results is traced to a specific line of the esmini source code
