Due to the rising in popularity of battery electric vehicles new studies about their safety are required. The most diffused are for passenger car applications, but e-Trucks are on the rise too and for them there is a severe lack in safety studies. The large majority of the fire tests currently available in the literature deal with battery cells or battery packs and not with the whole BEVs. Due to this severe lack in fire tests involving the full vehicles, the transport authorities of the DACH region financed a real scale fire test of an e-Truck inside the road tunnel of the research facility Zentrum am Berg in Styria, Austria.
