Techno-Economic Assessment of Quasi Solid State Cells Production Processes.

Abstract
The introduction of innovative quasi-solid-state electrolytes requires a validation that extends beyond the laboratory scale to evaluate their industrial scalability. This thesis proposal develops of a bottom-up Process-Based Cost Model (PBCM) aimed at a comparative Techno-Economic Analysis (TEA) between conventional liquid-electrolyte State-of-the-Art (SoA) cells and two advanced cells architectures based on Gel Polymer Electrolytes (GPE) cured via thermal or UV crosslinking routes, dimensioned for a localized utility output of 100 MWh/year. The study has been developed in collaboration with Comau (Torino, Italy), which has provided several industrial input parameter and operational constraints necessary to be considered for a coherent scale-up of innovative battery production processes.
Firstly, the compared chemistries and battery architectures are described, followed by a process mapping and equipment balance overview for each of the architectures
