Abstract
The Industry 4.0 paradigm has reshaped warehouse management, giving rise to the concept of the Smart Warehouse. Existing literature on this topic appears fragmented, and a clear understanding of how its key elements interact is still lacking. This thesis addresses this gap through a Systematic Literature Review conducted according to the PRISMA methodology, with the aim of mapping the current state of the art on smart warehouses and identifying the interactions and synergies among four key elements: the objectives pursued by a smart warehouse, the enabling Industry 4.0 technologies involved, the types of data generated and managed, and the individual warehouse processes concerned.
By examining these relationships, the study provides a comprehensive understanding of smart warehousing as an evolution of warehouse design, operations, control, and performance management.
