Abstract
Development of a Mixed-Integer Linear Programming model for the optimisation of a vacuum furnace loading. The loading problem is formulated as a level-based two-dimensional bin packing problem, structurally analogous to the Two-Dimensional Two-Stage Cutting Stock Problem. A two-phase constructive heuristic is developed as a benchmark.
