Abstract
The increasing volume of end-of-life wind turbine blade waste across Europe presents a significant challenge for the wind energy sector, due to recycling difficulties and fragmented EU disposal regulations. This thesis examines how to design a circular reverse supply network for managing this waste and how the network should adapt as waste volumes grow and policy requirements become more stringent. A mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) optimization model is developed to minimize overall system costs over a long-term planning horizon extending to 2050. This model is used to evaluate two alternative European Union policy scenarios.
