In recent years, the prevalence of cardiovascular diseases has steadily increased, particularly those involving the aortic and mitral valves. The aortic valve can be affected by stenosis or regurgitation pathologies, treated by surgical valve repair or complete valve replacement using prosthetic heart valves. The aim of this study is to investigate the fluiddynamic behavior of three aortic valve bioprostheses (Perceval™ Plus, Perceval™ Plus Lancelot, Perceval™ Plus Lancelot Dry), using planar Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). Each valve was tested in three holders, different in size and shape. To simulate left heart circulation, the ViVitro Pulse Duplicator was employed with working conditions specified by BS EN ISO 5840-1:2021 and under two cardiac output conditions (2 L/min and 7 L/min).
