In April 2023 Sudan plunged into a devastating conflict, resulting in a massive displacement which is considered the largest displacement crisis in the world. This conflict had disproportionately affected children and still is, through forced displacement, family separation, malnutrition, disrupted access to education, and severe exposure to violence. In response to these challenges, this thesis investigates the role of architecture in supporting the recovery and well-being of children affected by war through the design of a humanitarian residential and educational environment, supported by a healthcare unit. The research begins by highlighting the statistics and facts of the Sudanese conflict on families, specially women and children, who are considered the most vulnerable groups in societies.
