The demand for lightweight structural components has always been a central theme in the aerospace field. With a density 30% lower than aluminum and an excelent combination of mechanical performance and creep resistance, the ZE41A (RZ5) magnesium alloys - the subject of this study - stands out for its versatility, also due to its suitability for the Sand Casting process. The present work, carried out with Avio Aero, analyzes the entire industrial iter starting from a systematic preliminary bibliographic study. At the Borgaretto di Beinasco plant, Avio Aero's Sand Casting production site, stable results comparable to those achieved with DPSC (Differential Pressure Sand Casting) machine are not obtained.
