Abstract
Idiopathic normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) is one of the few potentially reversible neurodegenerative disorders, however, its diagnosis remains challenging due to its heterogeneity and its overlap with other age-related conditions. In clinical practice, the first imaging step in the diagnosis of iNPH is often computed tomography (CT), as it is time-efficient, widely available, and allows direct visualization of important anatomical features related to iNPH. However, the CT-based assessment is operator-dependent, with high inter-observer variability, and is often based on the subjective interpretation of experienced neuroradiologists or neurosurgeons. To address the need for standardization and objectivity in the assessment, various morphological parameters have been suggested, such as the Evans Index, the callosal angle, the visualization of the Sylvian fissures, the high convexity sulci, and the Radscale grading system, among others.
Although previous efforts in the automated assessment of iNPH have focused primarily on individual parameters, such as the Evans Index, an automated assessment of the overall morphology from the CT scans has not been developed
