Abstract
This thesis discusses the problem of numerical modelling of the Fast Cook-Off test, with the aim of developing a tool capable, in the initial phase, of supporting the experimental tests conducted by companies on solid propellant rockets and, in the future, paving the way towards replacing test campaigns through the use of numerical simulation, in such a way to lower the costs associated with experimental testing and enable a faster classification process as insensitive for the rocket architecture under consideration. The main objective is to develop a numerical model capable of perfectly simulating each phase of the experimental test and predicting the ignition conditions of the energetic material contained in solid propellant rockets and the subsequent consequences on the materials that make up the outer casing.
To this end, the testing process was divided into a thermal part, which only includes the transfer of heat from the fire to the rocket casing, and a structural part, which simulates the post-ignition process of the energetic material with the consequences on the surrounding environment
