Abstract
This thesis focuses on the design of the guidance strategies of a rendezvous mission between two small satellites in circular Low Earth Orbit (LEO). The work is conducted within the framework of the new SROC mission, which aims to demonstrate the critical capabilities and technologies required to successfully execute a rendezvous and docking operation in a safety-sensitive environment. As a first step, different rendezvous strategies were investigated, taking into account the technological constraints of the chaser platform and the requirement to ensure passive safety throughout the maneuver. The main solutions studied were multi-hop, consisting of a sequence of radial impulse transfers, and multi-boost, consisting of tangential impulse transfers.
The evaluation of the proposed strategies was primarily conducted based on maneuver duration, total ∆V cost, and accuracy of the final relative state
