Abstract
The ARAMIS-A reactor is a fast-spectrum Molten Salt Reactor (MSR) concept, developed within the Commissariat à l’Énergie Atomique et aux Énergies Alternatives (CEA). In its current design, it presents an open cylindrical cavity where the fuel salt flows freely and is highly turbulent (Re ≈ 10⁶). The inlet and outlet pipes are horizontal and present a 15° angle at the junction with the vertical core, in order to create a vortex in the core. This vortex is supposed to limit the presence of hot spots near the walls of the core, and retain Delayed Neutron Precursors (DNPs) in order to increase the βeff value of the reactor.
In this thesis, different values of inlet and outlet angles (7° and 0°) were modeled and compared, in order to study the formation of the core vortex and assess its usefulness in regard to hot spots and neutronic parameters
