Abstract
The objective of this thesis is to analyse the current biofuels market in Kenya and to assess the sector’s growth potential in the coming years, with particular emphasis on liquid biofuels. Starting from a comprehensive analysis of the national energy balance and the legislative framework, this study analyses potential production capacities across the country, taking into account local resource availability, national production strategies, ongoing investment plans, and existing legislative frameworks. Particular attention is given to variability in biomass resources, technological readiness, and policy commitment to bioenergy development. By integrating these factors, the study provides a realistic estimation of production potentials under different development scenarios.
The availability of renewable resources in the country enables Kenya to meet over 80% of its electricity demand through clean energy sources
