Abstract
Abstract This thesis presents the design and hardware development of a Custom Controller Board for the Semikron SKAI 3 LV, a three-phase MOSFET inverter system, as part of the Inverter research initiative. The main goal is to develop a flexible, open-architecture hardware interface that connects commercial automotive power electronics with custom control algorithms, enabling advanced Model-Based Design (MBD) research for low-voltage electric vehicle (EV) applications. The design uses the NXP S32K342 microcontroller, an automotive-grade MCU. The reason behind this selection is its ASIL-compliant safety features and compatibility with the NXP Model-Based Design Toolbox for MATLAB/Simulink. The focus of the power stage design is to create a reliable, multi-stage power supply system capable of transforming a variable high-voltage DC-link input (nominally 96 V, with transients up to 120 V) into stable low-voltage logic rails (13 V and 5 V) to supply different parts of the system.
To achieve this, we selected appropriate components for each stage of the design, including specialized converters and protection circuits capable of handling high voltages and ensuring continued operation under stress
