Abstract
In the Noisy Intermediate-scale Quantum (NISQ) era, control electronics for qubit manipulation and microwave signal processing represents a crucial applied research topic. The required fast acquisition and generation of Radiofrequency (RF) signals, together with stringent precision and frequency constraints, makes qubit control a challenging engineering problem. Thanks to their intrinsically parallel architectures and high flexibility, FPGA-based control electronics frameworks can address such challenges effectively. Specifically, AMD Radio Frequency System-on-Chip (RFSoC) represents a valuable platform, as it integrates FPGA programmable logic (PL), fast Radio frequency data converters (RF-DCs) and a processing system (PS) into a single device: this unlocks the possibility of a complete experimental infrastructure within a flexible and compact system.
The FIREQ project is a control and readout system based on RFSoC, developed at Politecnico di Torino, and specifically tailored to superconducting qubits
