Analysis and Improvement of Procurement Processes in the Supply Chain: The Case of the Miroglio Group.
Rel. Luca Mastrogiacomo. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Ingegneria Gestionale (Engineering And Management), 2026
Abstract
In an increasingly globalized and volatile market environment, supply chain efficiency represents a key driver of competitive advantage, particularly in the fashion industry, where seasonality, rapid trend evolution and strict time-to-market constraints require high levels of coordination and flexibility. This thesis analyzes and improves procurement processes within the supply chain of the Miroglio Group with a specific focus on the raw materials department. The research combines a theoretical framework grounded in supply chain management, Supply Chain 4.0, Lean Manufacturing and strategic procurement with an applied case study developed during an internship experience. After outlining the evolution and organizational structure of the Miroglio Group, the study examines the operational dynamics of the raw materials sourcing process, including fabric and trims research, supplier selection, coding procedures (PLM and ERP systems), quality control and production monitoring.
Through process mapping tools such as Flow Charts and Value Stream Mapping, several operational criticalities were identified, including inefficiencies in internal communication flows, risks of material obsolescence, lack of structured supplier performance evaluation systems, absence of standardized KPIs for monitoring delivery delays and knowledge management issues linked to organizational changes
