Analysis of the impact of new eyewear collections on production flows and processes with particular attention to constraints.
Rel. Luca Mastrogiacomo. Politecnico di Torino, Master of science program in Engineering And Management, 2026
Abstract
The increasing complexity of production systems and the need to ensure high quality standards require analytical tools capable of supporting the design and evaluation of new process configurations. In this context, this thesis aims to map the constraints and resources involved in the production of a new eyewear collection, with the aim of assessing the operational sustainability of the production system and identifying potentially critical areas. From a theoretical point of view, the work falls within the scope of operations engineering and is based on the integration of three main perspectives. First, the Theory of Constraints provides the interpretive framework for identifying constraints and bottlenecks, understood as resources whose capacity limits the overall performance of the system.
Second, production flow theory allows us to analyze the structure of routing, that is, the sequences of processes that characterize different products, highlighting the role of resource sharing in determining operational complexity
