Definition of a 48V Boardnet Architecture for a High-Performance Hypercar.
Rel. Gianmario Pellegrino, Fausto Stella. Politecnico di Torino, Master of science program in Electrical Engineering, 2026
Abstract
The following thesis work was redacted in accordance with GammaTech Engineering S.r.l., an established reality in the automotive engineering consulting field with more than ten years of experience in CAE services such as 3D-CFD analysis and 1D systems simulation, and Bugatti Rimac d.o.o., a joint venture between two leading automotive companies. The transition towards electrified high-performance vehicles has increased the relevance of 48V low-voltage electrical architectures, which offer advantages in power density, efficiency, and reduced resistive losses. Addressing these systems requires robust multiphysics simulation frameworks capable of accurately capturing and analyzing the complex interactions between electrical, mechanical, and control domains. Such tools are essential to ensure a reliable prediction of system behavior and to support informed design and optimization decisions.
This work proposes an integrated modelling methodology for the development and analysis of a 48V boardnet architecture for a high-performance hypercar, and it was carried out with GT-SUITE, a multi-physics modeling and simulation tool which combines a vast set of libraries in order to virtually reproduce a real vehicle assembly
