Abstract
In the context of the electrification of industrial systems, the focus on energy efficiency and power quality control is becoming increasingly important. In industrial applications involving numerous distributed drives for forced air cooling systems, using an Active Front End (AFE) converter can offer significant advantages in terms of power quality and energy management. This thesis presents the modelling and validation of the control system for a three-level AFE converter with a T-type topology, which is designed to power a DC bus for driving electric motors in industrial cooling systems. The control system aims to stabilise the DC-link voltage, minimise harmonic distortion (THD) and ensure a unity power factor on the grid side.
A complete system model has been developed in the PLECS environment, incorporating the grid, converter, control system and load
