Design and Installation of an offshore pipeline for the transportation of natural gas: The Hadera Hot-Tap Pipeline (HHTP) Project case.
Rel. Raffaele Romagnoli. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Georesources And Geoenergy Engineering, 2026
Abstract
The hydrocarbon supply chain, which extends from production to distribution via transport, constitutes a complex and interdependent set of activities that are fundamental to the energy sector. It consists of three main phases: upstream, midstream and downstream. The upstream phase includes all activities related to exploration and production of reservoirs, from geological surveys to drilling wells for hydrocarbon extraction. The midstream phase involves transport and storage, connecting reservoirs to treatment plants, collection centres and major distribution networks. Finally, the downstream phase includes the transformation of hydrocarbons into finished products and their sale to the customers. This paper focuses on a key project in midstream offshore engineering: the installation of an offshore pipeline.
All stages of the project are analysed, from preliminary preparations to delivery to the customer, including the management and analysis of any unforeseen events encountered in the field
