Abstract
The development of ePTO systems constitutes a new challenge in the transition towards electrified powertrains between the major carmaker groups. This emerging technology allows the conversion of light-duty commercial vehicles (LCVs) into refrigerated vans, ambulances, and other multi-energy applications. The thesis focuses on the development of the X250 ePTO Full Energy model, with reference to other vehicular systems that are intertwined with the platform. The aims are to provide the technical description of the implemented solutions, and the structuring of the project activities. The thesis was written during the internship as an engineering specialist within Stellantis Pro One team; the activities centred on the definition of the Product Development Plan (PDP), the tracking of model-specific components with the Tazebao tool, and the customization of Functional Objectives relative to the ePTO from global requests - with respect to Stellantis systems - to the specific application on X250.
Results were achieved through cross-functional alignment among various engineering teams - such as electrical, propulsion, body, mechatronics and others -, and the established methods for product development management; these features led to the definition of the initiative timing while ensuring the Start of Production (SOP) in line with targets, the organization of the industrialization of components in time for prototypal activities, and the definition of the functional requests in compliance with the project technical targets for a novel content.
