Abstract
The global transition towards electrified mobility represents one of the most profound transformations in the automotive industry. Increasingly stringent environmental regulations, technological innovation, and evolving consumer expectations are accelerating the shift from internal combustion engines towards electric propulsion systems. Within this evolving landscape, Range Extended Electric Vehicles have emerged as a strategic intermediate solution, combining the advantages of battery elec- tric vehicles with the flexibility of conventional powertrains. This thesis investigates the technical and commercial dimensions of REEV technology, focusing on the Leapmotor C10 REEV as a representative case study. The research is divided into two main parts: a technical analysis of the series hybrid architecture and an applied study of the vehicle’s market positioning.
The first part explores the operating principles of REEV systems, emphasizing their distinctive configuration in which the internal combustion engine acts solely as a generator, decoupled from the wheels
