Abstract
This thesis presents a pre-feasibility study for a Renewable Energy Community (REC, CER in Italian) across the Valdigne area of the Aosta Valley (Courmayeur, Pré-Saint-Didier, La Thuile, Morgex, La Salle). RECs enable citizens, public bodies and SMEs to jointly produce, share, and consume renewable electricity (primarily solar PV), so members act as prosumers and capture local economic, environmental, and social benefits. In Italy, RECs have been recognized since 2020. As of 2023 they may operate on the medium-voltage distribution grid within a single primary substation. Compensation for shared energy is granted by the GSE and allocated among members according to agreed rules.
RECs are therefore a key tool for decarbonization, cost reduction, and local resilience
