Rel. Paolo Landoni. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Ingegneria Gestionale, 2025
Abstract
By providing new ventures with a great variety of resources, services, funding and network opportunities, incubators and accelerators significantly shape startup outcomes. As entrepreneurial ecosystems have diversified and expanded globally, incubators gained visibility and have adapted their services to the industry evolution. This has brought changes in their structures and organization, in order to align with new trends and objectives, such as innovation and social impact. This thesis is a descriptive statistics work conducted in collaboration with Social Innovation Monitor (SIM). It investigates data from a broad set of Italian initiatives, including incubators, accelerators, and it also considers data from incubated startups.
The thesis’ objective is to give a comprehensive overview of the Italian incubation industry, mapping incubator models, services, and regional dynamics, and assessing their influence on startups and ecosystem development
