Abstract
This thesis focuses on the adaptive reuse of the historical Flour Factory of Qazvin, an abandoned industrial complex situated in the heart of one of Iran's most historically significant cities. Originally built in the early 20th century by European engineers, the factory reflects a unique blend of local and European construction techniques, with its brick masonry, timber roof structures, and characteristic industrial arches. Over time, due to deindustrialization, socio-economic shifts, and urban neglect, the site fell into disuse, becoming a no-go zone dominated by social vulnerability, informal gatherings, and safety hazards. Our approach aims to transform this neglected industrial relic into a vibrant cultural and educational hub while respecting its architectural integrity, urban memory, and social potential.
The proposal integrates functions such as a culinary school focused on Qazvin’s rich gastronomic heritage, exhibition spaces, a food-related museum, local markets, and social spaces to foster interaction, learning, and community cohesion
