Abstract
The purpose of this project is to discover a potential recycling strategy of urban structures in Madrid, el Barrio de la Concepción. I propose to work on the urban rehabilitation of existing housing blocks, known as the hive, and the design for transformation of these building, community services and also the surrounding urban environment. The procedure of the design is: identifying the buildings'characteristics and its urban context, understanding needs of the zone and the citizens, and making a series of transforming design in different scales to realize all the ideas. The adoption of innovative technology and sustainable methods is trying to meet the need of this moment of crisis and general uncertainty in which we find relevant to guide towards a deeper reflection on the urban context.
The project intends to bring a new life and vitality to the old crowded neighborhood and give new functions for diverse activities, ultimately to offer cultural, commercial and leisure benefits to the district, and also to the city.
