Abstract
This thesis explores the structural design of a pedestrian and cycle footbridge using Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodology, with a case study set in Verbania, Italy. The work was developed within a professional context at L.G.A. Engineering, which has substantial expertise in BIM methodology and steel structures. The project integrates the full BIM workflow—from conceptualization to structural verification and architectural visualization—leveraging softwares such as AutoCAD, Advance Design, IDEA StatiCa, Revit, and Twinmotion. Key focus is given to interoperability among these platforms to ensure an efficient and consistent flow of data throughout the design process. The project aims to enhance sustainable mobility infrastructure while complementing the surrounding urban and natural landscape.
The bridge design features a 160-meter long half-through arch structure composed of steel and a wood deck
