Abstract:

Adaptive reuse of buildings considering This work studies and analyses the readaptation of a former prison as an architectural project of reintegration with its surrounding environment. For the development of the work, we understand the problems and opportunities that the neighbourhood has in relation to the prison. In addition to understanding how the space functions as a whole and how to move from a cloister-like spatiality to an open and flexible architecture that collaborates with the inhabitants,. The study is applied to the Ex-Carcel de Caseros, a prison building inaugurated in 1877 but abandoned since 2001, located in the Buenos Aires neighbourhood of Parque Patricios, Argentina. The proposal is the rehabilitation through the transformation of its structure into unique and functional spaces, seeking to enhance the activities and attractions that arise in the area.ties decentralization
