OGR project : creation and recreation centre design.
Rel. Enrico Moncalvo, Raffaella Trocchianesi. Politecnico di Torino, Master of science program in Architecture For The Sustainability Design, 2013
Abstract
The purpose of this project is to discover a potential reuse strategy for a disused industrial building in Turin, the old Officine Grandi Riparazioni (OGR). Since the topics about this building are already studied by many other scholars and architects, the producing of a convincing plan requires careful studies and innovative ideas. The procedure of the design is: identifying the building characteristics and its context, understanding needs of the city and the citizens, and making a space design to concrete all the ideas. Most of the topics are discoursed in a social context. The adoption of the Creation and Recreation Centre scheme is an interpretation of the outlook of the Turin government for OGR as a cultural service.
The OGR Project intends to bring new life to the old factory and use it as a container of diverse activities, and ultimately to offer cultural benefits to the city.
