Android Automotive OS: custom distribution prototype.
Rel. Edoardo Patti. Politecnico di Torino, Master of science program in Computer Engineering, 2024
Abstract
Android Automotive is a version of the OS specifically engineered for automotive infotainment applications. It is estimated that, by 2027, 75% of the vehicles on the market will be using it in some form for their onboard systems. The scope of the thesis is to explore what this platform has to offer, by implementing a custom distribution starting from the open-source codebase. The candidate will be required to: - Starting from the Android Open Source Project (AOSP), compile a custom version to target a given board (configuration and BSP setup are required) - Define a set of best practices and processes to work on changes to the AOSP code base - Customize the system UI to create a new Android Automotive distribution - Customize the low layer of Android Automotive distribution (e.g.: CAN-BUS management).
