Abstract
This thesis investigates how Emergency Lane-Keeping Systems can be used to enhance vehicle safety in times of need. Correspondingly, a testing framework based on advanced simulation tools was developed for testing ELKS performance and effectiveness under numerous emergency scenarios. The main idea behind it is to ensure robust lane-keeping performance to increase the vehicle's safety during critical events. Simulation and visualization of numerous traffic conditions, from dense lane changing to emergency brake applications, are achieved within the integrated platforms. From these scenarios, many test cases were developed. The test cases included the ability of the ELKS to correctly detect lane markings, maintain lane discipline, and avoid collisions in response to it.
The use of advanced simulation platforms made the simulation environment even more realistic and, at the same time, made it possible to generate traffic scenarios and vehicle interactions, along with response, while remaining synchronized
