Abstract
Many cities in the world, a good portion of the capitals in Europe and Asia, have an ancient and troubled history. Their current shape is derived from experiences of hundreds [maybe thousands] of years: wars, plagues, power struggles and natural disasters. Think of the city of Rome, for example. It is called the "eternal city". It originated from a settlement of shepherds and farmers on the Palatine Hill, which spread to other surrounding hills, in the old 753 b.C. Since then the city has been characterized by a constant urban development, as determined by the actions desired by the early kings, then by the emperors of the great Roman Empire, to get to big changes Renaissance and Baroque and, finally, of fascism. Therefore the structure of the city was in constant evolution and its present appearance is nothing but the conclusion of a balanced process of urban, political, economic and social aggregation.
On the contrary, Perth has a short history, less than 200 years and, in this few years, it has grown from a small colony to a modern metropolis. This "forge ahead" has been a problem for the city. In fact, even for the beauty and the convenience its suburbs offer, Perth is still characterized by a large economic boom and then by an obvious increase of population. But precisely because of the young life of the city, you can see an urban centre that seems to have developed almost unnaturally. But let's go step by step.
