Development and Implementation of a Secure Real-Time Platform for Enhanced Patient-Medical Team Communication in Clinical Trials.
Rel. Giovanni Malnati. Politecnico di Torino, Master of science program in Computer Engineering, 2024
Abstract
Technology has transformed healthcare by improving efficiency, precision, and accessibility. Innovations like electronic health records (EHRs), telemedicine, and mobile health apps have revolutionized patient care and streamlined administrative processes. In cancer clinical trials, effective communication between patients and providers is crucial for monitoring treatment progress. However, early trials often lack real-time patient input on new treatments. To address this gap, the thesis introduces a web application designed to enhance communication in cancer trials which allows patients to report adverse events and side effects in real-time, providing healthcare teams with critical data to make informed decisions. This integration of patient-reported data improves clinical research, personalizes treatment, and enhances trial outcomes.
This project encompasses two distinct web applications: one for managing studies and medical team configurations within institutes and another for facilitating communication between medical teams and patients
