Crosstalk reduction using tabbed lines.
Rel. Stefano Grivet Talocia. Politecnico di Torino, Corso di laurea magistrale in Ingegneria Elettronica (Electronic Engineering), 2024
Abstract: |
As technology advances, there is a growing demand for high-speed digital processing and broadband systems, which impacts the design of printed circuit boards (PCBs). Additionally, in contexts such as Avionics, a fundamental requirement is the reduction of weight and size of a device while simultaneously increasing efficiency. In this scenario, one of the main challenges for PCB designers is to mitigate crosstalk. A novel approach to addressing this issue is based on the use of "tabbed lines" (nets with alternate stubs), which allows for preserving net density without increasing the distance between them. The aim of the thesis is to (1) study the electromagnetics underlying tabbed lines, (2) analyze the techniques used to design and optimize them, and (3) evaluate their performance through simulations and experimental measurements. |
