Abstract:

This thesis explores the design and implementation of a Metrics Store within a data warehouse, using GitGuardian, a leading cybersecurity scale-up where I completed a six-month internship, as a case study. The primary objective is to demonstrate how a well-designed Metrics Store can enhance data management and analytics capabilities, supporting better decision-making. The thesis begins by outlining the project's main challenges, goals, and steps taken to create a robust and efficient solution. Two case studies from major companies are analyzed to highlight the benefits of implementing a Metrics Store, establishing a benchmark for GitGuardian. A chapter follows on key data engineering concepts that inform the project’s technical choices. The project includes an in-depth look at GitGuardian's technology ecosystem, defining objectives, evaluating multiple approaches, and selecting the best solution for performance, scalability, and usability. The final sections present a detailed analysis of the outcomes and future enhancements to refine the Metrics Store for GitGuardian's evolving needs.
