Abstract: |
In modern days the optimization of time and performances has become one of the pillars of companies operating in the electronic industry, particularly for those operating in the testing and validation field. Many companies developed innovative technologies in the Automated Test Equipment (ATE) to aim high with specific machines, tools and systems able to reduce testing time while also improving precision and repeatability. SPEA Flying Probe 4080 is a complex system developed and produced by the Italian company SPEA that, through its eight axis positioned above and below the PCB under test, is able to perform rapid and precise testing programs, using advanced tools like probes, lasers and cameras. XJTAG XJLink2 is an innovative testing tool developed by the English company XJTAG that, thanks to the JTAG technology implemented in the current devices and to the several software tools that work with it, can perform specific tests otherwise very difficult in short time and with accurate results. The aim of this thesis project was to combine and integrate the XJLink2 tool in the Flying Probe 4080, in order to obtain a complete testing environment optimizing both time and performances. This project also improved the state of the art with the XJLink2, allowing a faster, automated and cableless connection between the board and the system, integrated in the test program. The final result has been successfully achieved thanks to specific settings in the test programs, both in the XJTAG software environment and in the SPEA software environment, and to an automated functional program that collects and processes layout data automatically assigning and moving the chosen probes to the corresponding test points. In the end, the total system was tested on three boards, TB200, TB201 and PCXINT200, with positive results and expected behavior. The integration of the XJLink2 on the FP4080 ended with a success and the functional program can be considered as an initial prototype for a full automated system, which can assure further optimization to the testing process. |
