LITERATURE REVIEW OF SHORT-TERM PRODUCTION PLANNING FOR ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING: TOWARDS INTEGRATION IN LARGE-SCALE PRODUCTION SYSTEMS.
Rel. Erica Pastore, Manuela Galati. Politecnico di Torino, Master of science program in Engineering And Management, 2024
Abstract
The present thesis aims to critically analyze the scientific literature on production planning in additive manufacturing. It focuses on the way the key elements of AM processes have been taken into account and presented in scientific publications. It particularly emphasizes the studies that explored the scheduling and nesting problems, the different production environments, and the efficiency of such technology for the industry. The purpose of this thesis is to finally highlight the overall investigation in the implementation of additive manufacturing in large-scale production systems. Some limits of the literature are also underlined, such as disparities depending on the type of technologies or industrial sectors, and the little scientific research on the environmental impact of additive manufacturing.
A comprehensive classification of the state of the art will be the ultimate product.
