Abstract
The evolution of Formula 1 engineering is intricately connected to the historical and theoretical foundations of composite materials. Carbon fibre reinforced composites, particularly in crucial components like the monocoque, suspension, and gearboxes, have reshaped the structural dy??namics of high-performance vehicles in this sport. The shift towards a construction landscape dominated by composites marks a pivotal moment in Formula 1’s history, resulting in cars that are not only lighter and faster but also safer. As composite materials took center stage in Formula 1, manufacturing methodologies assumed a critical role in shaping the sport’s engineering trajectory. The following chapters underscore the significance of precision and innovation in manufacturing processes, particularly in crafting primary and secondary structures like wings and bodywork.
