In this study, various remote sensing monitoring technologies are summarized and discussed in terms of their advantages and disadvantages in applications, their development trend in the future. The goal of the research is to obtain a model able to estimate the above ground biomass (AGB) over the forests of Alto-Adige region, in order to give a powerful and reliable tool for implementing the carbon stock market. The model utilises optical high resolution from PlanetScope archive remote sensing data, calibrated with the forest inventory informations at the municipality scale.
