Abstract:

The literature review was done on the Suspension System of a vehicle and its technologies followed by a review of NVH in the Automotive Industry focussing on EU regulations and limits of the noise inside the vehicle’s cabin. Preliminary Sound Pressure Levels of the double-stage planetary gearbox are considered when the gearbox transmits torque and speed. Evaluation of Sound Pressure Levels in Electromagnetic Rotary Shock Absorber is carried out using the Numerical Method by formulation of Masuda where the noise of the whole assembly of the Electromagnetic Shock Absorber prototype was mostly considered to be caused by meshing gears of the gearbox. This was achieved using KISSoft software giving torque and rotational speed as the inputs and monitoring the kinematics in the gearbox using only continuous motion. Experimental Evaluation of the sound pressure levels was carried out in an Anechoic chamber of the Mechatronics lab of Politecnico di Torino. The prototype used was produced by Marelli and it was for Alfa Romeo Stelvio. The results were then compared to each other. Conclusions were made on the results obtained.
