Abstract: |
With the transition from 4G to 5G, various improvements are needed in electronic circuits to respect the ever increasing requirements demanded by the new standards. One of the most power consuming blocks of the transmission circuits in radio-frequency electronics being the Power Amplifier, a lot of work has to be put in to optimizing such a circuit block. Linearity in Power Amplifiers is a key metric in circuit requirements as the new 5G standard is used, thus new stringent linearity requirements must be respected. In this light, this internship focuses on analog predistortion circuits to linearize Power Amplifiers in the 5G Ka Band ([26GHz ; 40GHz]). The 5G standard with its key metrics and the FD-SOI technology from STMicroelectronics are presented along with a theoretical study of the linearity problem in Power Amplifiers and a state-of-the-art study. Multiple circuits are studied and some circuit improvements being proposed to further improve the studied circuits. |
