Abstract:

One of the optimal options for obtaining geothermal energy can be implemented through abandoned oil and gas wells. Currently, the use of oil and gas wells for this purpose is more expedient and less expensive, as the cost of investment in wells drilled for geothermal energy is quite high. Before using this type of abandoned well, the effect of temperature on the rocks and layers in the wells must be taken into account. This thesis also discusses the suitability of oil and gas fields located in sedimentary basins for geothermal energy use. The study of technical parameters of wells located in different regions, in particular, well temperature, and well construction is considered. Factors such as the application of geothermal energy extraction methods, their impact, suitability for long-term use, and economic efficiency were analyzed in the proposed work.
