Abstract
Novel coronavirus pneumonia (COVID-19) has had a major impact on global economic development, social life and governance. China is facing various risks and challenges in metropolitan areas due to its large and densely populated population base during the critical period of outbreak prevention and control. The distant suburban counties of the metropolis play an important role in this epidemic as a buffer zone for the epidemic. Prevention and control efforts and spatial governance strategies in distant suburban counties should be given high priority. This paper identifies the problems in emergency prevention and control in distant suburban counties of metropolitan areas by observing them and combining them with China's national conditions.
From the perspectives of public facilities, public spaces, community units, and emergency measures, we explore the problems of responding to emergency epidemics in distant suburban counties, explore their potential from existing policies and combine them with the advantages of distant suburbs, and propose corresponding solutions to build new distant suburbs in post-epidemic era.
