Ever-expanding human curiosity is leading humanity further into an exploration of the universe, search for another form of life, the expansion of the human presence further into the Solar system, and crewed mission to Mars are just a part of it. Therefore, the purpose of the thesis is to build a base for general knowledge, explore the new and emerging field of space architecture, and create a legacy for others to continue further research. Mainly knowledge about the Mars exploration was gathered by extensive literature review, existing concepts, ideas, and project analysis interviewing experts in the field, and finally exploring ideas and concepts through the design development using knowledge analyzed previously. So, the thesis is collecting general information about Mars, concepts, and ideas on how to approach the threats and complications related to the human presence on Mars. The important part of it is the interviews with experts that shed a light on the way of thinking, nuances, and new ideas in the field. It can be seen more as an introduction to the field of space exploration from an architectural point of view. It does not intend to point out any particular statement or idea, even if some can be traced in the design development chapter, but to explore existing knowledge and deliver it to the reader.
