Abstract
In textile production environments the information monitored are related to: input materials (e.g, amount and properties of yarn), processes (allocated time, final package size, etc.), and configuration parameters of the machines. Traditionally these data are managed manually. However, an automated monitoring systems is desirable, because it improves the productivity, product quality, process flexibility, and market competitiveness. So the goal of the thesis is to design a communication system that allows to interface a production line to a central system. There is a PC or a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) that collects and modifies the key parameters and monitors the production progresses.
The communication system should be compatible with hardware devices used in Officine Gaudino and should be able to work in a textile environment.
